Nightmare Before Christmas was recreated as 3-D (pretty good in some parts) and there was talk around 2005 or 2006 they planned to for Star Wars. We will see what will happen.
STAR WARS Episode I - PHANTOM MENACE was the only film re-made for release theatrically as 3-D. And STAR WARS Episode VII a few months ago as a normal film version or a 3-D theatrical showing.
Since 2010 many more films made or re-edited after shooting as a 3-D release, but maybe that has finally moved on. A major manufacturer of TVs in March stated the most popular of the HD format TVs would be made without 3-D.

I hear MARTY is next for the Spielberg/Spectacle treatment in 3-D, a film which will marke Arnold Schwazenegger's return to the screen.
I'm in line already.
