Have You Bought Yours?
Dragnet rates a U.S. postal stamp - TV Squad: "How many people remember Dragnet? Or maybe I should say how many people remember actually watching Dragnet, the 'just the facts' police show starring the iconic Jack Webb? The reason I ask is because the U.S. Postal Service is immortalizing Dragnet with a postage stamp . . . ."

I bought mine!
Well, that figures.
It does seem completely in character for me, doesn't it?
Best detective series ever.
As a kid, I thought the TV show was like watching paint dry. As a grown-up, I love to listen to the Dragnet radio shows on tape or CD. Not sure what that means.
The '50s series was great, and Webb was rightly considered the Orson Welles of early TV. He changed dramatic television forever. It's a shame the lesser, often self-parodistic '60s-'70s series is what lots of people think of.
See the 1954 DRAGNET film (occasionally on Turner) and the film PETE KELLY'S BLUES to get an idea of how good he really was. THE D.I. is available from Warner Bros.' new on-demand DVDs and it has its moments, as well.
One of my heroes.
I'm with Al and Richard Wheeler. Love that show and always did, even the hokey later ones with Col. Potter, er, Harry Morgan. I'll buy those stamps as soon as I run out of my sheet of lighthouses. Maybe sooner.
