Judy and I watched this last night and enjoyed it. We had only one major complaint, if you don't count the seemingly interminable commercial breaks. We both found the explanaiton of one plot element hard to believe. Really hard. Other than that, the cast was excellent, and the story was true to the spirit of Parker's books. The writers have his dialog down pretty well, and the annoying relationship of Stone and his ex-wife was kept to a minimum.
The woman from Internal Affairs was named Sidney Greenstreet. A little to cutesy if you ask me, which nobody ever does. The ending screamed sequel, and I hope we don't have to wait two more years for one.

Doh! I forgot to watch or record that.
I agree it was worth watching. I think Tom Selleck has really matured into a good actor-that role is made for him.
I enjoyed the film as well and I believe the next one, NO REMORSE, is already filming. Doesn't that golden retriever steal every scene he's in?
And he never has to say a word.
I missed the beginning, so only saw the middle hour, since there was something else I could see in its entirety (that didn't even have seven-minute commercial breaks)...so what was the unbelievable plot point?
Selleck isn't quite as pretty any more, as far as I can gauge, so the woman who wasn't The Fat Man falling so quickly into bed with him seemed just a bit easy...but otherwise the character interactions seemed rather better than those in most television drama of any sort. Nice to see Baker in something other than the comparitvely contrived and plastic PICKET FENCES, as an example of how things usually go in US tv drama.
Hey Bill, what did you think of Sidney Greenstreet?
Ben, she looks better than the old version.
Todd, I thought it was probably impossible for the babynapper to have dumped her child in the river since there was a death certificate. How'd she steal the body? For that matter, how'd she steal the other kid. It's not that easy.
Ah. Having read Marcia Muller's babyswap story "Forbidden Things" yesterday afternoon did make that aspect of the film, most of which I missed by missing the first and last half hours, rather immediately familiar nonetheless.
Regarding Sidney Greenstreet... hey, it could have been worse. They could have made her a divorcee with two kids - Peter and Lorrie. (Cue foghorn sound from "Peabody's Improbable History").
Bill, I was alluding to your "If you ask me, but nobody ever does" remark.
And I appreciate your asking! Too late to do anything now, though. I'm going to use that name in my next book, I think, assuming there is one. Book, that is.
I think you're obligated, now, Bill...
Well, maybe.
