Alice Borchardt, R. I. P.

Alice Borchardt passed away last night. She was a good friend and a fine writer. Judy and I enjoyed meeting her and her husband, Cliff, for dinner in Houston, as we did many times over the years. We're going to miss Alice a lot.

Alice Borchardt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "Alice Borchardt is a writer of historical fiction, fantasy, and horror. She is the sister of Anne Rice and aunt to Christopher Rice. Alice Borchardt shared a childhood of storytelling with her sister in New Orleans. A professional nurse, she has also nurtured a profound interest in little-known periods of history. She published her debut novel, Devoted, in 1995. She lives in Houston."

Me, too, and there won't be any more. She was a great person, and we were lucky to have known her.

Very sad. Sent condolences to Anne this afternoon. Also sad to see that her death is not recognized very publicly. She was an exceptionally talented writer. Loved all her books.

It truly is a loss to the writing community. I recently read her Wolf novels back-to-back, and as a fellow writer, found myself in awe of her powers of description and her wonderful sense of place and character. Her love for nature and animals, her sense of justice and passion for history, are very much evident in her work.

I was actually reading "Night of the Wolf" on the very day she passed. Though I never met her, I hope she somehow knew someone was reading her words when she left. May she rest in peace.

Thanks for the comment, C. W. I'm going to try to be a the memorial service on Saturday. She was a wonderful person as well as writer, and we're really going to miss her.

This is very sad :(. I don't think she meant to stop at the Raven Warrior for the Guinevere series. I think she meant to write one more that focused on Arthur's mission. Sad to know that we will never have the ending to the Guinevere series.

Very sad, indeed. I attended her memorial service yesterday (8/3), and I was reminded again of how much she meant to a lot of people. She did intend to write a third novel in the Guinevere series, and she talked a bit about it to me. But when she got sick (several years ago), she was unable to write because of the various medications and the pain. A sad ending.

So sad. I've learned of this a month late. I just finished The Raven Warrior and found this announcement while searching for the third book in the series. I'm new to Alice Borchardt's books and she will be sorely missed.

She will, for sure.

I just found this....how very sad. She will be greatly missed.

I was searching to see if she had a website or contact info - I wanted to send her a link regarding a wolf sanctuary in Montgomery, TX. The Wolves of St. Francis:

Any chance an author out there would be willing to finish the Tales of Guinivere Trilogy?
