And his subject, Ted White, has certainly been in and around a number of the more interesting pop-culture (and not-so-pop-culure) efflorescences over the decades. Still strikes me as an odd coincidence that White lost AMAZING and FANTASTIC and then gained HEAVY METAL, and Ben Bova walked away from ANALOG and got picked up at OMNI, at about the same time. Worse magazines, in both cases, but actual salaries, apparently.
