Barbarella Remake Update
Barbarella Kate Beckinsale - Showbiz News - Life Style Extra: "LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Kate Beckinsale is set to star in a remake of 'Barbarella'.
Movie bosses think the British actress is a perfect choice to play the cult 60s heroine - a role made famous by Jane Fonda in the original 1968 erotic space adventure.
A source told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: 'Jane Fonda made the 'Barbarella' role very much her own all those years ago and she is bound to be a tough act to follow.
'But the feeling is that Kate has just the right combination of beauty, humour and acting talent for the part.'"

Well, as your photo suggests, there's nothing wrong with the first part of that assessment...and she is certainly game and talented enough to do something with it (hell, she's the only reason to watch most of her films I've seen, and helped elevate the UNDERWORLD sequel to actually enjoyable)...but will the script be any better than the first B film?
Let's hope they do get a good script. As attractive as Jane Fonda was, the script bit the moose.
It seems to me that all the candidates so far (with the possible exception of the discarded choice of Angelina Jolie) bear a resemblence to Jane anyway.
Well, she's no Angie but she's not Sienna Miller either, fortunately.
Of course, her track record as a percentages of her movies that are crap is pretty high.
That's the best Coca Cola advert ever.
I have to agree.
Slightly worrisome that she hasn't done any serious nudity since the turn of the century but if it's essential for the part (and of course it is unless the producers wimp out and go for a PG13 rating - the scum) she'll probably do it.
It's absolutely essential to the part.
UNDERWORLD 2 gave some evidence that she could handle that aspect.
Indeed.
Have you ever seen "Cold Comfort Farm"?
Delightful movie.
She plays the lead role but is given the appearance of a Plain Jane, bookish librarian type, which is hard to believe given the picture you posted here.
Actually, I have seen that one, a very funny movie. Kate seems to have gone in a different direction since then.
