Cassandra 'Elvira' Peterson wants to find a new 'Mistress of the Dark' with a reality TV show.
Peterson is pitching a macabre reality show that would have contestants compete for a one-year contract to portray 'Elvira, Mistress of the Dark,' the character Peterson created more than 25 years ago, The Hollywood Reporter said.
Peterson is joined in the project by her manager, Eric Gardner, as well as Stuart Krasnow of the 'Weakest Link' and 'American Idol' producer FreemantleMedia North America.
Peterson pointed to the many portrayers of Bozo the Clown in explaining her need to shed her goth robes and makeup, saying, 'Obviously, I don't want to be walking around dressed up like Elvira when I'm 105 years old.'
Krasnow said the show would blend comedy with the macabre.
'We're looking at a show where the cast is going to be sleeping in coffins in a pretty scary place and part of the production will be shot in Transylvania,' he said. "

Now that's one reality show I'd be tempted to watch. Elvira rocks.
True, no one can replace Elvira, but on the other hand Cassandra Petersen is 56 years old and presumably Elvira's most noticiable assets are succumbing to gravity and at least if she does this there wouldn't be the whole nasty law suit situation that occurred between Vampira and Elvira. There needs to be a smooth and peaceful passing of the wig.

Well, if two each of the Go-Go's and the Bangles (Vicki Peterson and Susanna Hoffs of the latter, Kathy Valentine and Charlotte Caffey of the former...alas, not Jane Wiedlin) can sign on for an all-woman-band "reality" show on the soon to appear CW network (the September merger of UPN and the WB), why not? Was Caroline Munroe the only intermediate persona betwixt Peterson and predecessor Maila Nurmi?
Och, Carolyn Jones, of course. Yvonne DeCarlo couldn't touch her.
Yess Bill, it's a wig. Cassandra Petersen is a red-head (and other places based on the nude photos of her that have appeared after she became famous as Elvira).
