Sorry, folks, but I've had to delete this story after its being on-line for four years. It's going to be published in a book called Lone Star Noir, which I hope you'll read.
Wow, Bill. Not only did you make the best use of the police auction concept, but you gave us a rousin' redneck action movie in about 3,000 words. Outstanding. My favorite of the lot so far (and it's going to be hard to beat).
Nicely done. I'm a slow reader so I'm making my way through the list a little at a time. It was nice to see a huge explosion and flying body parts. After reading four or five others, I was just asking myself "When am I going to see things explode?" Here's my answer.

Bill, very nice job with your story. I enjoyed it quite a bit. And I don't think you have to worry about another writer coming up with this idea.
Leave it to Bill to embarrass the rest of us.
This is simply excellent.

You guys are making me blush.
Great job weaving together the two stories of the ring.

I've bought a lot of used items, and always wondered about the stories behind them. Now I'm not so sure I want to know. Mesmerizing story.
Who can resist dismembered arms? Well done Bill.
Very clever stuff, Bill.
And, basically, what they all said. Cool stuff.
