Airplane II: The Sequel

I remember seeing this at a theater when it first came out. It didn't work for me. I sat stony faced though the whole movie waiting for something funny to happen. Anything funny. Maybe it was just me. Except that when I looked around the "crowd" at the Sunday matinee that I attended I happened to notice that very few people were laughing.

I think that what happened was that Ken Finkelman who wrote and directed the second movie tried too hard to replicate the jokes in the first movie which worked because they were unexpected. They weren't unexpected in the second film.

(Then too, Finkelman didn't have an established script to parody the way that the Zucker Brothers had "Flight Into Danger," aka "Zero Hour.")

I felt pretty much the same. It fell flat.

Totally different opinion here. I prefer the sequel. Some incredibly funny scenes.
Maybe not as good a film overall as the original, but the space flight premise in Airplane II is just an absolute riot.
