I always thought it was too bad that CASABLANCA went with the conventional happy ending, Ilsa has the last-minute change of heart and decides to stay with Rick. And THE MALTESE FALCON, where it turns out that Brigid was actually an undercover cop, and somebody else killed Archer. Great scene where she puts Gutman down with a karate kick just before he shoots Spade.

Wait, those things never happened, did they? Bet they would if the movies were remade today.

Here's an idea: next time someone takes a swat at Agatha Christie's AND THEN THERE WERE NONE (or TEN LITTLE INDIANS) (or whatever) how about using the book's ending instead of Dame Agatha's cleaned-up stage version? With the right cast it might be kinda fun. Needless to say, we won't be going back to the book's original title...

APRIL FOOLS' DAY was a bit of a ripoff of TEN LITTLE EPITHETS...and a fun one.
