Update

Things could change, but I suspect this will be my final post on the blog.  I met with some doctors at M. D. Anderson today, and they suggested that I enter hospice care.  A few weeks, a few months is about all I have left.  The blog has been a tremendous source of pleasure to me over the years, and I've made a lot of friends here.  My only regret is  that I have several unreviewed books, including Lawrence Block' fine new anthology, Alive in Shape and Color, and Max Allan Collins' latest collaboration with Mickey Spillane, The Last Stand,  which is a collection of two novellas, "A Bullet for Satisfaction," an early Spillane manuscript with an interesting history, and "The Last Stand," the last thing that Spillane completed.  It saddens me to think of all the great books by many writers that I'll never read.  But I've had a great life, and my readers have been a big part of it.  Much love to you all.

Oh, Bill. I do hope this proves not to be the case. You're such a daily part of all our lives, and we want you to remain so. You're such a caring, interesting, talented person, the world will not be the same. So dammit all the hell, hang around. Prove the doctors wrong. And know, no matter what, we all love you.

Yes, Bill, we all love you whether we've met you or not. I'm with Brett: hang around and prove them wrong. We and the VBKs need you and love you.

Bill, your blog and your books have been a source of both entertainment and pleasure. In our limited interactions you've always been absolutely wonderful. I'm sorry we never met in person--and I'm still holding out that your doctors are wrong--but you've had a positive impact on my life. You are truly one of the good guys. Thanks for your work, your time, and everything else.

Since my first encounters with you in MDM, then in DAPA-Em, we've been friends and gotten to be better friends over the years. So many good times at cons.

Hospice, eh? Isn't that where they bring you ice cream any time you ring the little bell? Sounds like when I had my tonsils out at age 3. You'll probably love it, then they'll kick you out 'cause you're too healthy. Hurry back, please.

You were one of the first people who reached out to me online. I am so grateful for the time we spent together here and at Bouchercons. I never thought when I began FFB that anyone would contribute more than a few reviews. And yet, you did it for ten years. More than 500. You were smart, gracious, kind, constant, and always a gentleman. To our own Sheriff.

Bill, I am so sorry to hear about your news. And it is my sincere prayer that this won't be received wrong, but I believe this is the single most important thing any of us can ask or do...

I pray you are a Christian, Bill. I am convinced God is real and He really did send His son to die for us on the cross. And I am further persuaded that Jesus rose bodily from the dead to bring salvation to all mankind.

I urge you, Bill, if these are your last days, to turn to Jesus Christ and be known as one of his dearly beloved and forgiven children. He loves you, Bill. I know in hospice they have ministers who can talk to you and it is my prayer that they are with you and praying for you through this process.

God bless you and your family. If there is anything I can do for you please let me know. I will keep you in my prayers.

You're a great man, Bill, a judgment I suspect you'll find a bit embarrassing. Nonetheless, it's true (if there's one thing I can sometimes do, it's state the obvious). At a level so that more people probably should tell you as much. Gracious, intelligent, talented, kind, generous, clearly a father and husband and keeper of cats to be admired as much as you are as a friend...and while we've met face to face once, I hope I've been even a small fraction as good a friend to you as you've been to me.

I'll miss the old days a lot more, if you don't find yourself in full remission and feeling yourself again. And I hope wishing that for you isn't too selfish.

I'll strive to be a little closer to the standard you've set, certainly. Thanks, Bill...more better days, if at all possible.

Dear Bill,

We only met a few times over the past twenty-odd years, and the last time we didn't even get a chance to say much, but I count you among my friends. Through your blog and Facebook, in private correspondence and in person, you revealed yourself to be a wise, caring man--with a great sense of humour and irony. I've been counting on you for a bit of fun almost every day.

I hope that all these messages reciprocate some of the joy you spread and bring you comfort.

Love,

I so hope you are wrong. Doctors told my Mom she had six months to live, and to enter hospice care, for about four years. She ignored them and never entered hospice care. I'm not suggesting you do that... but i am suggesting you stay strong and not lose hope. Doctors aren't always right.

Your friendship is something I treasure.. and that has impacted my life in some many wonderful ways... from the books you've suggested that I read (and all the authors I fell in love with, thanks to you), to the books of mine that you edited, and finally to the books of yours you've trusted me to adapt for the screen and to publish.

Since 1979, when I joined Dapa-Em, you've been a constant in my life. Whatever I did in my fannish life, you were there. Without you I wouldn't have had my books published. Often, you were the only one to respond to my dull little blog. Your life has been invaluable to me in more ways than you know. In MDM and OWLHOOT, you never missed a turn. I think of you as a dear friend and I'm not ready to lose you. And, obviously, there are legions more who feel the same way. I have two hopes for you. One, is that you stay with us much longer. Two, is that if you must go that you will reunite with your beloved Judy for a joyous eternity.

As always, my best to you.

Bill -- you are such a great and kind and thoughtful person, and such a great reader, and such a fighter...it won't feel the same publishing books without you there to read them. I'm honored that Spillane's last is in your hands now. At the very end, Mickey wrote, "The day of the dying happens too fast. The sun comes up and it shines in your face and tells you it is time to arise and die the
hard death that has been written for you and there is no way you can escape the momentous finale that circumstances have laid on you." It's breaking my heart to think he wrote those words for himself, and for you, and when the time comes for all of us. Be well, my friend, as well as you can be for as long as you can be, and know you will be loved and remembered as long as the last of us draws breath.

Bill, we've been thinking about you (and Judy, of course) daily. We discussed our first meeting in 1980 at the Washington Bouchercon, and all the great times since. I got to take Bill (and a couple of other friends) to Brooklyn Heights to see the MOONSTRUCK house (and the former Cammareri Bakery, where his idol Nicolas Cage, worked in the movie). Bill and Judy came to New York for the Edgars about 10 (?) years ago, and we met them at the Grand Hyatt and took them on a walk all the way down to the World Trade Center site, including a stop off at the Flatiron Building on 23rd Street (after the women declined to enter the Museum of Sex), where we went in and saw Bill's editor at St. Martin's, the legendary Ruth Cavin. And then there was the forced march that Judy and Jackie and several other women took Bill on in Indianapolis (at the Bouchercon) to get him new shoes after his self-destructed. He wasn't expecting those Eccos to cost $175.

These are just a few of dozens of memories we and all Bill's friends will always treasure. It's almost impossible to imagine this world without him.

Dear Bill

We’ve never met, I’ve never even commented here before. But I’ve been following your blog for years, hitting that refresh button several times a day — knowing there’s always going to be some fun link or interesting re-blog on a variety of unusual subjects. Best of all is when you’ve posted little essays of your own — warm, kind, funny, opinionated but never harsh or judgmental. Lately I’ve been hitting the refresh button not so much to read the newest “Thin Mints Melee” or “I’m Sure We’ll All Agree”, but for the comfort of knowing that if you’re still posting these little bits it means you’re feeling well enough to do so. So, these last few days — well.

Obviously I join my fellow Bill Followers in hoping the doctors are wrong, that you’ll rally and get better and be with us for years and years. But none of us want you to suffer. Either way, know that you are loved and admired and cherished.

Thank you for sharing yourself with us.

I just discovered your Sheriff Dan Rhodes series, got hooked and started looking around to see how much more of your work was out there to look forward to reading and found this (listed on Murder By The Book's website and searched further). I am a Houston transplant married to a native who has ties to Denton, Texas and we both were so happy to find your lovely books (and love noir and hard-boiled detective novels too!)

I am so very sorry to learn about your diagnosis. I wish there was something more than just words to offer. But words and heartfelt thanks are all I have. Thank you so much for the truly entertaining stories and colorful characters. We will keep you in our thoughts and wish you peace and love for whatever you're facing on your coming journey.

Bill, it was an honor to be with you on one of your last convention panels a bit over a month ago. I was so glad to see you there, and hug you and hope for you, and I continue to hope. Your rescue of the three VBK kittens shows not only your compassion and humor, but I know there was a bonding magic for all concerned, and I'm so glad you had each other. You have always been a wise and calming presence, like your unforgettable late wife, Judy, and I see two you together that way now and always will. Thanks for sharing yourself and all your wonderful books with us. We will never say goodbye as long as we can read them.

Bill, just want to thank you for all the entertaining books, stories, reviews, blog posts, and convention appearances. Over the last 12 years, you became a cheerful part of my life, even though we only met occasionally at a convention. I'm praying for you. And don't forget, I live in Houston if there's ever any assistance you need. Bill, you don't know me and I've only commented once before. I live in England and the lady I love also has cancer. Like others who have commented, I am hoping for a miracle for you. Failing that, I hope your remaining time will be as pleasant and pain-free as possible. Thank you for everything you have given us for so long. And, if you are about to leave this world, I hope that Judy is waiting for you in the next.

Bill, you and your work will be missed. I remember meeting you many years ago at a conference in Dallas. I don't even remember the name of the conference, but I have never forgotten your name or your books. Or the drinks some of us had in the bar at the hotel. Always fun times when writers get together. You will have plenty to share a cloud with up there.

For the last half dozen years I have worked as a Mall Santa. Amazingly some of the children (usually 4 - 6 year olds) do not know what they want as a gift. I usually tell them that I will bring them a surprise. This year when they did not know I asked them if they wanted me to bring them a surprise and they always said yes. Then I'd ask if they had a bathtub. Puzzled by the question they'd still nod yes that they did. Then I'd smile and tell them that I was going to bring them an alligator... but not just any alligator but one named Bill. This brought a smile to their face and to mine... for them they were picturing a gator named Bill in their bath and for me I was thinking about Bill Crider.

I just discovered your Ellie Taine books by accident. I was in the large print section of the local library and I selected your book randomly along with a couple of others to show my eye doctor of print I could see and print I couldn't see. So she arranged an exam. In the meantime I read your book and enjoyed it. Then I got the second book and enjoyed that too.

I am so sorry to hear about you being in hospice. I hope that you will not be in any pain. I was so hoping by clicking into your blog that you were going to say you had another Ellie

I just got a copy of the new Sheriff Dan Rhodes book. As always, I looked forward to a well written novel with a clever plot and fascinating characters providing several chuckles. I was stunned after I read the forward by Angela Crider Neary announcing that Bill had died. For me, it was a proverbial unexpected gut punch. I felt as if I knew Bill Crider, even though we never met. His laid back, down home, wry sense of humor came through in many of his characters. He came up with one of the most outrageous characters of all times with the introduction of Seepy Benton. In his own “aw shucks” humility, I know Bill understood Seepy was a hit, and had fun with the character. Inventing Seepy was like returning a kickoff 109 yards for a touchdown in high school. My sympathy and best wishes go out to Bill’s family and friends. I will miss this good man and wonderful story teller. Bill Riley

Knowing what amount your bets should be will give you the best chance of winning the biggest jackpot available.

A good example is the DC Comics Slots, as with these, you can win one of four types.
s128
The Ultimate Power Jackpot being your best chance of winning with the smallest of bets but your odds will always be much better with higher stakes.

It really depends on the slot machine, but generally speaking, you should play with higher stakes in order to improve your chances of winning the biggest and best jackpot.

The recommendation here is to take the respective bonus offers and earn even more game credits for your favourite slot machine.
s128 apk
In general, they’re always worthwhile. You should, however, consider any conditions that are linked to these offers to make sure they’re truly worthwhile, such as what you need to do before you can cash out any incentives and the profit made from them.

One thing you need to be aware of is where you can use the welcome bonuses and free spins, which slots and games are you allowed to play?
