1. I never heard of it. I did hear of Powder Ridge. Since we weren't at Woodstock, Jackie wanted to go there. Unfortunately (or not), it was cancelled at the last minute. But we did have tickets.
2. As for the linked article I hope the rest is more accurate than the first sentence.
Summer of Love - 1967 Woodstock - 1969
Neither was "four years" before the aborted 1972 festival.
I find the whole thing bizarre, but this thing apparently did happen. (I lived in Indiana from my birth in 1948 until I left to attend grad school in 1969, but I still had family there, including my younger brother the journalist...)
Poking around a bit...there is a Wikipedia page, but NONE of the links to sources seem to work. So I can't find any actual on-line contemporary documentation of the event...
Don’t forget that Fyre festival from a few months ago. The one that was being promoted by “celebrities” on Instagram. The luxurious accommodations included ham sandwiches for dinner and porta-potty facilities.
A 40-year-after piece from the Evansville papers (found by my brother): http://archive.courierpress.com/features/woodstock-on-the-wabash-the-bull-island-rockfest-40-years-later-ep-444067342-324677351.html/
