LA Times: Hugh O'Brian, who helped tame the Wild West as the star of TV's “The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp” and was the founder of a long-running youth leadership development organization, has died. He was 91. Hat tip to Fred Zackel.
I believe it was Hugh O'Brian who said that the five stages of an actor's career are: 1. Who is Hugh O'Brian? 2. Get me Hugh O'Brian. 3. Get me a Hugh O'Brian type. 4. Get me a young Hugh O'Brian. 5. Who is Hugh O'Brian?
He was also in the 1966 remake of Ten Little Indians. And unless someone has taken the crown since then, he was once the youngest drill sergeant in the US Marine Corps.
After Abbott & Costello dropped out, Hugh O'Brian and Buddy Hackett substituted for them in the 1954 movie FIREMAN SAVE MY CHILD. Spike Jones and his City Slickers are also in it.
