At last--a "By the Book" that doesn't leave me feeling that I know nothing about books! Only a few obscurities and some really interesting choices, especially on the nonfiction side. And I love the fact that he casually mentions Danielle Steele (on his nightstand, no less) and Sidney Sheldon amid the much more serious and literary works he cites.
I read Daniel Silva's latest spy novel, THE BLACK WIDOW, and enjoyed it. Like Deb, I appreciate writers who read Real Books like LOLITA instead of baffling obscurities.
