Yet Another Update

I'm still here.  I saw my doctor at M. D. Anderson, and she's still very optimistic.  There have been some complications, but she wasn't as concerned about them as I am.  I've had the first in a series of shots, and I'll be starting chemo in about a month or a month and a half.  My daughter, Angela, has been here through all of this, and I couldn't have made it without her.  She'll be going back to California soon, and I'll have to see how I can make it on my own for a while.  If things don't go well, my son or my sister can come.  I think I'll be fine, though.  I hope to ease back into blogging later in the week.  We'll see how it goes.

Ease sounds like a sound plan. Says the man who's been taking it too easy of late.

Lot of people out there rooting for you Bill!

Take it easy, Bill. As much as I miss your near-constantly updated blog, I'd miss you a lot more.

Sorry you're having some complications. But I'm pleased your doctor is still optimistic My continued best wishes and prayers for your battle.

Good to hear this Bill. I like the sound of your doctor. One day at a time.

This sounds encouraging over all. There have been many advances since my Dad was diagnosed and treated in the middle 90s. We think of you and your family daily and are counting on you to get well.

I'm keeping you in my thoughts.

Well, that's good news. Your doctor's optimism is encouraging. Fear not; when Angela leaves, the VBKs will take over - if they haven't already. Stay strong.

The news looks better and better; you're in my thoughts all the time. Take care of yourself.

Hang on, Bill, hang on.

Good on ya, Crider.

Take your Doctor's optimism and run with it. I was in bad health several years ago and hearing the Doctor speak with such certainty about my getting better really lifted my spirits.

Good to hear. Jackie says she always likes a positive-sounding doctor.

With all of this going on, Bill, are you still planning to attend Bouchercon in New Orleans?

I'd hoped to, but it's highly doubtful.

Positive thoughts coming from down here at the end of the road, Bill.

Keep the positive news coming. Thinking of you a lot. Give Angela a hug from me.

Glad the news is positive and your doctor optimistic. Let that keep your own spirits up.

You come back whenever you feel like it. We'll be waiting for you.

Wow, short of a complete, "Sorry we got your tests mixed up with another guy", that's as upbeat & positive as I think any rational person could expect! Absolutely delighted to hear news this good. Even so, what's ahead is no picnic, as you well know. Hug Angela for me too. And as the Brits say, keep your pecker up (which might be misinterpreted in Texas, but you know what I mean).

Thanks for the encouraging update, Bill. BTW, when you're offline the web isn't as much fun.

Encouraging news, Bill! We're all looking forward to having you back online, but don't rush it. We promise we won't go through VBK withdrawal. :-)

And if that doesn't work we'll touch up your x-rays.

Seriously, this is such good news I could dance.

Once the thing becomes tangible, once you've got a plan, it becomes easier and you can approach life with the attitude of :what have I got to lose?" There's a lot of us survivors out here!
