Dan beat me to it. I'm positive we were saying "doggy doo" or "doggy doo-doo" way before 1976.
Um. We were referring to fans of the original TV series as Trekkies as early as 1969...and we were in Indianapolis. I can't believe that it was coined in Indianapolis.
