The New York Times: Snuff Garrett, a former Texas disc jockey who was forsaken by his own music teachers but became a millionaire by the time he was 30 producing records for Bobby Vee, Del Shannon, Gary Lewis & the Playboys and other artists, died on Dec. 16 in Tucson. He was 76.
Hat tip to Jeff Meyerson.

Sad. Snuff has had health problems for years. He was our DJ in Wichita Falls for a while, comic from Lubbock, where he had met Buddy Holly. They were good friends, and when Buddy died in the plane crash, it really hurt Snuff. We listened to his R&R program every night. His "Come A Foggin, Cowboy," was our key to prepare for good music. I thought he was older than 76, though. Good grief, I was just a teenager when I listened to him on the radio, and I'm 75 now.
