I'm with you, Jeffrey. I wouldn't look for enlightenment from the "BuzzFeed Community," not even on pop culture topics. Better resources to help in exploring horror fiction are "Horror: 100 Best Books" and "Horror: Another 100 Best Books."

I've read none of them but the Shirley Jackson (which I would hardly characterize as "underrated") and, in fact, haven't heard of quite a few of them.

Jack is probably inexplicably excluded from those lists, too.
I did read HORROR: 100 BEST BOOKS in 1992, which I believe was pre-Jack.
