Great, great pictures. Been there many, many times since 1978 (including July 29, 1981, the day of the Royal Wedding) and I think I've been in every one of the shops pictured. Bookends is a remainders store (part of a chain) and there have been years I've bought dozens of books there for 50 p or a pound each. Murder & Mayhem is, as you'd guess, the crime & mystery bookshop.
Incidentally, Hay is almost literally just across the border of Wales.

One of our fellow FictionMagicals, Bill, (at least one) has annual fun in this fest.
