Sadly, he was doing gigs at a local (and by local, I mean Mandeville) Daiquiris and Cream store just a few years ago.
"When a Man Loves a Woman" hit Number One in 1966 when I was a love-sick 17-year-old. It was the perfect song for what I was going through at the time. And, it's a classic today.

Even sadder that he gave away that songwriting credit.
Undoubtedly explaining the reason why he was doing gigs at Daiquiri shops into his seventies.
There's just way too much of this going around.
