I hadn't realized until I saw this article that there had never been five females born in the U.S. Of course Canada went nuts over the Dionne quintulpets (all girls) in 1934 (before my time), much to their detriment. According to Wikipedia, two of the Dionnes are still alive at 80.
My first thought was of the Dionnes. They were still a big deal when I was a kid, and LIFE would run photo features on them now and then on their birthdays.

As the mother of three girls, my advice is to start saving for their wedding days now!
