Pop music was losing me by this time, but even at that I'd have thought I'd have heard more of these than I have. I sure never heard the Ray Stevens song. I know I'd remember that one. I'll see if it's on YouTube.
Yup, apparently a Chicago/land chart of some sort. The similar 14 April BILLBOARD chart is here: https://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100/1979-04-14
Might be one of the biggest national showings for Chuck Brown's go go band, the progenitors of that kind of dance music of DC. And if anyone in jazz pre-fusion was going to cut a disco number, it was going to be Herbie Mann...
I note he provides two Ray Stevens songs at the link...including the Maniloe parody...

Oh baby, this is my era! I was in full Disco Dolly Deb mode then...and even I haven't heard of half of these songs. Was this a regional chart?
/btw Bill, I think "I Need Your Help Barry Manilow " should be an upcoming song of the day.

I never heard it either (and I'd prefer to keep it that way).
I've always intensely disliked "Roxanne" by the way.

Yes, and I don't think I'll use it.
Oh Bill--you're no fun!
