Venture Galleries: In 1973, DAPA-EM (which stood for Elementary, My Dear APA – don’t ask, because I don’t know the origin of the name) became the first and only APA (Amateur Press Association) devoted to the mystery genre.

Good one, all right. I miss it too.
Never heard of it. Apparently I missed a lot of good things over the years.
Most of my best friends in the world I met on DAPA-EM.

Ditto.
Anyone with an apa jones can join Slan-apa or OWLHOOT.
Though Marv Lachman was a contributor to Mystery Readers/Lovers Newsletter early and often,it was published by Lianne Carlin. Except for that one glitch, a very, very nice piece.
I feel very bad about pointing that out because it seems mean to do so.
I am not mentioning it at Venture, because this in the ONLY place on the intertubes that I make comments. Because this place is the best.

I caught that glitch, too, but I figured it wasn't worth mentioning. Those of us oldtimers know the real story. My first published fan piece was in Lianne Carlin's zine.
Which is why, Bill, that you are a much better person than I.
