There used to be ads for these guys in most of the SF-F digests, including Galaxy, Astounding and F&SF. I never heard of them outside of that, and was never sure just what they really were.
Yes, it was most amusing to find that the abortive tv series ZERO HOUR used the dynamic of Rosicrucians vs. Nazis in an attempt to catch some of that DA VINCI CODE gravy. ZERO HOUR still better than THE DA VINCI CODE, but...
Their Egyptian Museum is located near where I lived in San Jose, CA, and I went there a number of times. I even dated the girl who sold tickets for a short time. I tried to get her to explain their beliefs but she didn't say much about them. I have a feeling it's like the Masons--secretive but harmless.
