Back in the 70s, our local 7-11 applied for a beer and wine license. A company representative flown up from Texas explained to our Board of Selectmen that the company's name did NOT come from the 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. hours the stores were open but because the corporate papers were signed on July 11.
This leaves me with three possible conclusions. One, the company representative was blowing smoke. Two, the company's corporate atmosphere changed enough so that they began to believe the myth as fact. Three, the jamoke who wrote this article didn't know what he was talking about.
