My father really, really loved these and hoped to have one someday after he retired. Sadly, he only lived about 6 months after that event and so never had the chance.
My father owned one of those Volvo 1800s--the 1962 model, also in fire-engine red--when I was a boy. He loved it and also loved sharing a mutually appreciative look with other Volvo 1800 owners when they drove by each other on city streets. Unfortunately, as my brother and I grew older, he traded in that sports car for a larger, later-model Volvo. I wish he'd held onto the 1800 long enough for me to drive.

A shame. It's a cool-looking ride.
