I'm a big fan of all of the Simeon Grist series. This one is my least favorite of the six.
I don't agree with the reference to Robert B. Parker's Spenser novels.
There is an element of prototypical slacker to Simeon, along with a dash of almost surrealistic SoCal weirdness to the plotting.
Beside getting this free one, I've just paid to download the other five to my Kindle. They're each under $4.
