I have problems with certain misused words: like "utilize" to make something sound important when "use" works just as well. I even hear of "utilizations" for "uses."
Or "alternate" instead of "alternative" The only person who practiced an alternate life style was Dr.Jekyll.

Or "founder" instead of "founder"
And the one I rally hate: "more importantly"
My current pet hate, watching golf on tv, the commentators invariably say, "he has a lengthy putt" instead of just "long putt".
