NYTimes.com: Patti Page, the apple-cheeked, honey-voiced alto whose sentimental, soothing, sometimes silly hits like “Tennessee Waltz,” “Old Cape Cod” and “How Much Is That Doggie in the Window?” made her one of the most successful pop singers of the 1950s, died on Tuesday in Encinitas, Calif. She was 85.

RIP Miss Page
Of course, aficionados of bad movies like yours truly will treasure her co-starring role in the adaptation of the DONDI comic strip, starring David Janssen and possibly the least talented child actor ever, even including Pia Zadora, David Kory. Of this classic Leonard Maltin said, "Watch this and you'll see why Janssen became a fugitive!"
Page also crooned the semi-classic "Dondi, Little Dondi":
Dondi, oh Dondi/Think of birds in the sky/Or a rainbow on high/That's Dondi, little Dondi . . . .
His smile can chase the clouds/And brighten skies above/And every empty heart/Will fill up with love.
If you haven't seen this it also starred Mickey Shaughnessy, Robert Strauss, Arnold Stang, Louis Quinn, Gale Gordon and Walter Winchell as himself.
Trust me, once seen never forgotten.
Jeff
