Even Olivier made some stinkers toward the end of his career--who can forget "The Betsy"? But De Niro's slide is truly astonishing for someone once touted as the next Brando, greatest actor of his generation, etc. I realize bills have to be paid, but he must be getting better offers than those Focker movies.
Oh, come on Deb, THE BETSY was a classic! (If nothing else, I will never forget the scene of Kathleen Beller on the diving board.) At least it was a classic compared to Brando in DOCTOR MOREAU.
DeNiro seems to be in his "Michael Caine phase" where he doesn't turn down anything no matter how bad, embarrassing or demeaning it is.
