Wow, I didn't know he was still alive. My favorite of his books was MARJORIE MORNINGSTAR (the movie adaptation, however, is another matter altogether).

How many here are aware that he wrote comedy for Fred Allen's radio program?

I didn't know he was still alive either, though I did know he was involved in Jimmy Buffett's musical adaptation of his Don't Stop the Carnival in 1997.

We have the CD of the short-lived musical, which played in Miami but never made it to Broadway.

I liked his semi-autobiographical novel, City Boy: The Adventures of Herbie Bookbinder about an 11 year old Jewish boy growing up in The Bronx in 1928.
