Whoever wrote this list doesn't know much about film history. "Detour" was one of the all time cheapies and for all its flaws is still a remarkable movie. At least two other Edgar G. Ulmer films also belong here. The list is too current for its own sake.
They also forgot Robert Rodriguez's "El Mariachi" made for about $7,000 in 1992 (the poster cost more). It's the best of his movies -- producers should keep him away from money.

Agreed. Now how about Otto's 10 best lines?
DETOUR! DETOUR! DETOUR!
Shot for $30,000 in six days.
Also, virtually every movie produced by Val Lewton, e.g., THE CAT PEOPLE, I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE, and LEOPARD MAN.

EVIL DEAD was made on the cheap. I think.
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.
Well, DETOUR was probably made on a pro-rated budget comparable to that of SWINGERS. Now, consider CARNIVAL OF SOULS...
