If memory serves, this was a William Alland production -- which could explain Orson Welles's voice presence on the trailer: a little payback to "Mr. Thompson", the faceless reporter from CITIZEN KANE. And That's Hollywood!

I handled Lily Tomlin's version years ago, but I've heard disturbing rumors that Eddie Murphy was tackling a new take.
Let's hope those rumors are wrong.
