Those of us of a certain age remember the Dave Clark Five all too well.
Lead singer of Dave Clark Five dies | News | guardian.co.uk Music: "Mike Smith, lead singer of the popular 1960s Beat group Dave Clark Five, has died. He was 64. Smith was admitted to a London hospital earlier in the week and passed away on Thursday after contracting pneumonia. The illness is believed to have arisen after the singer suffered a chest infection, stemming from a 2003 spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed."

After The Beatles, they were my favorite of the British imports. Mustn't forget the Kinks, though.

for a free listen to a bunch of their songs. I was a big fan of their music and the garage band I was in did a bunch of them--Sad All Over, Do You Love Me? (their version rather than the Contours'), Can't You See That She's Mine, and others. A real shame that Mike died, and especially that he lived as a tetraplegiac at the end of his life.
Randy Johnson, and probably the rest of you, might want to catch the repeated interview with Ray Davies on the NPR show FRESH AIR today.
Hurting Inside was "our" song. So sad.
Except for redoing the Contours, a much better version, they were a really good band, and I remember they were thought to be the band in competition with the BEATLES. BEATLES got better and experimental, and they stayed the same. But, fun. Joe
I like the Contours version better, too.
The main difference between the two versions of Do You Love Me? was the dance "mashed potaotes" was changed to "the goose" in the British rendition. Otherwise it was a pretty straight steal.
