Coincidentally, I saw THE LOST CITY OF Z yesterday, and it was REALLY good. Relatively low-key; there is some action, and it is an adventure movie, but don't look for much Indiana Jones-type bravado here. My point (and I do have one) is that the protagonist, Col Fawcett, who disappeared in the Amazon jungle in 1925, was certain there were ruins of a significant civilization in that jungle. He was incessantly mocked, derided, and largely ignored...but 80+ years after he vanished, he was proven to be right. So when archaeologists are confronted with physical evidence that conflicts with what they "believe"...I think they had really better start examining their preconceptions.

To paraphrase Haldane, the world is not only stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we CAN imagine.

Haven't seen the movie but read the book. Good stuff.
