Deborah Raffin, R. I. P.

San Jose Mercury News: Deborah Raffin, an actress who ran a successful audiobook company with the help of her celebrity friends, has died. She was 59.

Wow, that's a shock. She may not have been a great actress but she sure was pretty.

Sorry to hear this. It was really her post-acting life, as the founder of an audiobook company--when audiobooks were just getting off the ground--that set her apart. She was so young too--and, since no one is naming their daughters Deborah anymore, us Debs literally are a dying breed.

/BTW Bill, I hope you and Judy weren't caught in the 100-car pile-up near Beaumont yesterday.

Deb, Deborah is still a classy name. I sure hope the Deborahs don't die out.

I was named for Deborah Kerr, the actress. Whenever I meet another Deborah/Debra/Debbie/Deb, she's always (like me) a woman of a certain age. Some names have just been taken out of the pool.
