JEEEEEEZE!TIME Magazine no less!!
Best comment: "When Evelyn Waugh is trending on twitter in 2016, you know somebody did something stupid."/There wasn't a single person involved in the production of this list who didn't know enough to say, "Errr, guys..."//And upon what list do Georges Sand and George Elliott appear?
They'd be in the Jeopardy! category "By George!"
Seriously? Geez, Louise. Henry Luce is spinning in his grave.
He (she?) was a Brit, and everyone knows about them, right?
Don't be too hard on Time. Waugh's first wife was named Evelyn. Their friends kept track between them by naming him "He-Evelyn" and her "She-Evelyn" 8-)
I just remembered (SPOILER ALERT) that the denouement of Agatha Christie's MRS. McGINTY'S DEAD (aka, BLOOD WILL TELL) involves the search for a character named Evelyn and the gender expectations of that name.
