I've always been partial to the last line I'm Flannery O'Connor's "Good Country People": Two friends are watching a Bible salesman walking away from the house, unaware that he has persuaded the one-legged daughter of one of them to give him her wooden leg and has left her stranded in the barn loft. Speaking of the salesman, who they perceive as being a rather pleasant soul, one says, "Some can't be that simple...I know I never could."

Makes you think on do many levels.
