I never heard of it.
Unlike Richard, I've heard of it but I never knew anyone to admit to reading it. I understand Grit published an early Manly Wade Wellman story, though.
I sold Grit in the early Fifties and believe me it wasn't easy. After a couple of months I was old enough to get a paper route which I did thankfully. Grit was mostly down-home crapola but it was more intelligent than any of the supermarket tabs of today.
One of my first sales was to Grit. A four-line poem at a dollar a line. Not bad!
