In at least one of the versions of his short autobiographical essay, "My Affair with Science Fiction," Alfred Bester recalls getting mildly peeved with Clarke for boring a gathering with slides, particularly since they were taken of his aquarium fish. Close paraphrase: "We argued as to whether both photographer and subject had to be underwater."
