The 20 Worst Lyrics Ever

Didn't I just run a list like this? Anyway, we know for sure that Jeff Meyerson spends way too much time at Spinner.com.

The 20 Worst Lyrics Ever: No. 20 - Spinner.com - Free MP3s, Interviews, Music News, Live Performances, Songs and Videos: "Where have all the poets gone? To pop music, of course. However, judging from our list, some of these esteemed wordsmiths could use a new thesaurus. We'll take your complaints at the end."

Yes, but the other list was better. Particularly since their choice of absolute worst lyric here is an example of willful misinterpretation, iinm...Ms. Adu's "Smooth Operator" is taking one flight coast-to-coast, then another "LA to Chicago."

And I always thought Sir Paul said, "this ever-changin' world in which we're livin'."

Neither the magazine list nor the readers list included the worst Canadian songwriter ever (Terry Jacks) however the readers' list at least included the second worst Canadian songwriter ever, Mr. Paul Anka and his immortally bad "You're Havin' My Baby." Seriously, the man wrote a song for Telly Savalas - to sing. That qualifies as crime against humanity.

Though even Terry Jacks pales when compared to the Bee Gees, particularly the Early Sensitive ones ("I Started a Joke," which alone damns them forever, among others). At least Jacks was only inflicted on most of us with the one crime. But, yeah, Jacks and Anka...it is to shudder.

Yeah, but Anka also wrote some pretty catchy melodies. Not everything was quite as bad as "Havin' My Baby."
