Billy Jack struggled with what we all struggle with at times - how do we confront violence and injustice without being consumed by violence ourselves? Nonetheless, Billy Jack for President! :-)
I must have seen BILLY JACK four times on the big screen. I saw THE TRIAL OF BILLY JACK twice, and the second time realized how stultifyingly dull--except for a couple of set pieces--it really was. And in retrospect I saw how both movies deliberately bypassed the brain and went straight for the balls, or somewhere. I've never seen BILLY JACK GOES TO WASHINGTON, though it shows up on late-night broadcasts once in a while, or Laughlin's non-Billy Jack movie THE MASTER GUNFIGHTER. I guess he thought raw egotism was OK as long as it was putatively in the service of good...

I'm afraid that ship has sailed.
Lots of films become cult classics (LOL).
I avoided them as a kid because they looked boring.
