Nevermore? Mystery Visitor Misses Poe's Birthday - NYTimes.com: "Is this tradition ''nevermore?''
A mysterious visitor who for decades has left roses and cognac at the grave of Edgar Allan Poe has failed to show up for the anniversary of the writer's birthday.
The curator of the Poe House and Museum in Baltimore says the graveyard tradition dates back to at least 1949 and has never been interrupted before."
Hat tip to Jeff Meyerson.

Aaaaaaaaaw. Very sad. But let's hope that Edgar's fan has now met Edgar in person at last.
The real shame in Baltimore is that the Baltimore Ravens - having lifted the name of their not very successful football team from Poe's most famous poem - have NEVER done anything for Poe's legacy. You can walk to Ravens Stadium from Poe's house.
NOT ONE DIME FROM THE RAVENS FOR POE.
For what it's worth, the Poe birthday stunt was getting a little old.
