Yes, I know this is going to sound sacrilegious--but I think 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) just may be the most overrated movie in cinema history. To be frank, I think the lower-budget Quatermass and the Pit (1968)--which deals with the same subject matter--is miles and away better.
I'm with Ivan up there. 2001: A Space Odyssey was a huge disappointment. I didn't see it when it came out (I think I'd just gotten back from Nam) and all the world was abuzz about it. When I finally saw it last year I wondered if it was one of those experiences that could only be properly appreciated if one was stoned senseless.
I love that Plan Nine From Outer Space was rated higher than Barbarella. That must mean something profound but I don't know what.
I can't comment at your site these days. I get a 403 error message saying I'm "forbidden."Hmm...that is strange. I'll have to take a look at that once I'm back from the wintry wilds of Iowa.
