Kurt Russell's hair and short stature alone make that fact abundantly clear.<BR/><BR/>And I honestly don't see how a remake is going to <I>spoil</I> the original - if it ends up being a bad film, the original will look even better. Let's face it, Carpenter's hardly averse to the whole remake enterprise considering Assault on Precinct 13 (which is Rio Bravo, yes?) and The Thing (do I need to ask who goes there?)<BR/><BR/>Personally, I don't care how many remakes they end up slinging at me - at their worst they remind me to watch the originals, and at their best, they surpass the originals, blow it all up like Franklin singing Redding or Huston doing Hammett.<BR/><BR/>As for "their target audience" - I AM that target audience. Who makes a film profitable these days? The geeks who buy the DVDs. And really, it's in Hollywood's best interests to get these things right. Look at the Halloween remake - you've got an interesting horror director making a seminal slasher flick his own. At least they have a certain reverence when it comes to remaking movies.
