Laid the heavy atmosphere on with a trowel, but it did also retain Christie's nihilistic ending. This...I can't believe you never saw it before!

This was also the first Christie I read. I've seen many versions, each of which has gotten progressively worse, it seems. (Although for bad adaptations, I don't know if any come close to THE LADY VANISHES with Elliot Gould and Cybill Shepherd. But I digress.)

There was a 1974 version set at an abandoned hotel in the Iranian desert, with Oliver Reed as Hugh Lombard and Elke Sommer as Vera Clyde. Richard Attenborough was the Judge. It sucked.

The 1989 version (set on an African safari!) starred (if you can believe it) Frank Stallone (I swear I am not making this up) as Philip Lombard. Donald Pleasence was the Judge.

Herbert Lom was in both of these, by the way, but sadly Fabian wasn't.
Jeff Meyersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00093411926030586355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3668066.post-3591044269689677192017-02-21T07:09:41.947-06:002017-02-21T07:09:41.947-06:00One thing the 1965 version had going for it was Sh...One thing the 1965 version had going for it was Shirley Eaton.August Westhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11797743144228505958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3668066.post-59054905350484647292017-02-21T07:03:10.916-06:002017-02-21T07:03:10.916-06:00One of her best and I have seen this version, I th...One of her best and I have seen this version, I think. pattinase (abbott)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02916037185235335846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3668066.post-80516557751688328792017-02-21T06:43:54.055-06:002017-02-21T06:43:54.055-06:00This is one of my favorite Christies.
