It Was All a Dream!?!?

It Was All a Dream!?!?: In 1997, when Roseanne viewers learned the ninth and final season was a fictional account of the family written by Roseanne, they were fuming mad. Why even tell a story if it never happened? More often than not, there’s a real-world explanation for why shows pull this stunt.

My parents were livid over the Dallas dream as well as the Roseanne one. My Dad especially ranted and raved about what a rip off it was. I had felt the same about the St. Elsewhere deal though I did see why they did it from a writing standpoint.

Did not know they were trying to bring back Roseanne. Not sure that is going to work as a lot has changed for society in the intervening years.

Always enjoyed the Newhart finale. But every other show that pulled this lame stunt was pointless and pathetic.

I figure anyone who gets upset about a fictional show having a meta-fictional episode needs to get a real life.

Series television is all make-believe.
