RIP. No wonder most malls are going under (it's like walking through a morgue in our local one) if all the anchor stores are closing. No mall can stay afloat with only a Bath & Body Works and a Cinnabun franchise.

I could support a mall with a Cinnabun franchise all by myself.

The Source mall in Westbury is almost a ghost town now, kept open basically by the presence of P. F. Chiang's and Cheesecake Factory. Most of the other stores have relocated to a new one that opened a couple of blocks away.

Near where we stay in Florida an entire mall was closed except for J. C. Penney. Now they tore the whole pathetic thing down and built (much to Jackie's delight) a huge outlet mall. Did I mention that this was one exit from us on I-95?

I remember Sam Goody well. Also the other record and bookstores.

I miss the old days.

There are several ghost malls around in Houston. We use to go to movies at a mall in Texas City. The rest of the mall is closed now, the the theaters are still going.

Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, and Penney's will be gone by the end of this decade. Now it seems like ages ago that you could drop by Tower and Borders to browse and buy.

Eight of them, yes. I especially miss the huge Tower Records store in Hollywood, though now that I'm in OR I wouldn't go anyway. The electronics stores like Circuit City are a loss for anyone who is serious about buying things beyond hand held devices. And the bookstores...oh yes, the bookstores.

Best Buy can go under tomorrow for all I care.

I remember most of those stores in the article. It worries me that book stores are so endangered.

Gotta run. I need to find a Photmat.
