Well, there was a lot more crossover back then. At least he could sing, unlike Lorne Greene, who talked his hit.

Legend has it that it was Robert Goulet's singing on TV that caused Elvis to blast the picture tube (look it up, whippersnappers) with his .45.
I found that Lorne Greene 45 at a flea market in the 1970s and the theme to Bonanza was on the flip side--a song I can still sing verbatim.
/I can't remember now for the life of me why I bought the record in the first place. Possibly for camp value.
