Thanks for posting this, Bill. Oliver Hardy was my Uncle Babe: my maternal aunt Lucille was his widow. As Stan Laurel told a biographer He (Ollie) really was a very funny man.
He died when I was quite young. I only remember him a little. I visited their house one Halloween night when I was about four or five dressed in full devil costume and treasure the resulting B&W snapshot of him "cowering" away from me in fear...
